Background

Floyd County Schools College and Career Academy has completed the journey to becoming one of Georgia’s first charter career academies.  The school’s transformation from Floyd County Technical High to a world class career academy has been a community collaboration between Floyd County Schools, Georgia Northwestern Technical College and the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce.

The school was created with the challenge of reaching four goals:

  • Design a school that will develop and sustain a highly skilled work-force for the community.
  • Develop a program that will provide a seamless transition between high school and post-secondary training.
  • Meet the needs of business and industry and improve the communities ability to attract new business and industry to the community.
  • Impact the system's high school completion rate.

The College and Career Academy will continue to grow and develop career tracks based upon the needs of the community and the interests of students.
